Daftar Lengkap Nominasi dan Pemenang Spirit Awards 2016

'Spotlight' menjadi pemenang besar dalam Spirit Awards 2016 disusul oleh 'Beasts of No Nation'. Berikut daftar lengkap pemenangnya.

Spirit Awards yang diselenggarakan oleh Film Independent memberikan piala tertinggi mereka, Best Feature pada Spotlight. Tak hanya itu, film ini juga membawa pulang 4 piala lainnya, termasuk Best Director dan Best Screenplay. Film investigasi jurnalis dari Tom McCarthy ini juga mendapat nominasi yang sama dalam Oscar, tapi kemenangan ini belum tentu berlanjut disana, karena ruang lingkup Spirit Awards notabene hanya terbatas pada film-film independen. Meski begitu, dalam 5 tahun belakangan, 3 pemenang Best Feature mereka juga memperoleh Best Picture Oscar (The Artist, 12 Years a Slave, dan Birdman).

Beasts of No Nation yang sama sekali diabaikan oleh Oscar, mendapat piala Best Male Lead untuk Abraham Attah dan Best Supporting Male untuk Idris Elba. Mya Taylor mencetak sejarah sebagai transgender pertama yang memenangkan Best Supporting Female untuk Tangerine.

Son of Saul menang sebagai Best International Film, sementara The Look of Silence memenangkan Best Documentary.
