Daftar Lengkap Nominasi dan Pemenang Academy Awards 2016

'Spotlight' menjadi Best Picture dalam Oscar ke-88 mengalahkan 'The Revenant' dan 'The Big Short'. Sementara 'Mad Max: Fury Road' membawa pulang piala terbanyak.

Dalam awards season yang sulit diprediksi mengingat tak adanya front-runner yang kuat, Spotlight berhasil keluar sebagai film terbaik Oscar 2016. Banyak yang memprediksi (termasuk saya) perlombaan akan terjadi antara The Revenant (yang menang dalam DGA dan BAFTA) dengan The Big Short (yang menang dalam PGA), namun film arahan Tom McCarthy ternyata menyalip keduanya dan menyusul kemenangan dalam SAG. Selain Best Picture, Spotlight juga memenangkan Best Original Screenplay.

Pemenang besar di malam Oscar adalah Mad Max: Fury Road yang nyaris mendominasi di seluruh kategori teknis dengan total 6 piala dari 10 nominasi diantaranya Film Editing, dua kategori Sound, Costume Design, Production Design dan Makeup dan Hairstyling. Menyusul di bawahnya The Revenant yang membawa pulang 3 piala. Alejandro G. Inarritu resmi bergabung dengan Joseph L. Mankiewicz sebagai sutradara yang mendapat piala Best Director dalam 2 tahun berturut-turut, sementara ini menjadi kemenangan ketiga dalam 3 tahun terakhir bagi sinematografer Emmanuel Lubezki.

Kategori akting tak begitu mengejutkan, dimana Leonardo DiCaprio (akhirnya) memenangkan Oscar pertamanya untuk The Revenant, Brie Larson sebagai Best Actress untuk Room, dan Alicia Vikander sebagai Best Supporting Actress untuk The Danish Girl. Yang sedikit mengejutkan mungkin adalah kemenangan Mark Rylance sebagai Best Supporting Actor yang mengalahkan favorit publik, Sylvester Stallone.
